heat only works on "heat" and "defrost"
I noticed the other day I can only feel heat when the "heat" or "defrost" button is depressed. No heat from "vent" or "bi-level". I don't remember if this is normal or not...methinks not. If it's not normal, what is going on?
I rarely use heat as I never have my 7 out in the winter, but it's been cold, early, here in the NE.

Same here. I think I must have hit a wire or something when I was installing the CD player, because that's right about when it stopped working... I think. I don't drive my car in the winter and haven't driven it in anything near cold weather since last spring, so I can't be sure.

I'd be the first to admit most would find me unbelievably weird...but why is my 7 now? I thought it should obey whatever temp I tell it where I tell it. I still have and use the stock radio, too, so no wires where ever cut/lost that I know of. Anybody else?

Vent will not have any heat involved whatsever, its to vent outside air directly into the cabin.
Bi-level I'm not sure about, I'll have to dig out my owners manual.
But you have an FB so it will be different HVAC from an SA I think.

On the SA vent is mixed air from the middle, and round vents plus the vent under
the steering wheel. Sliding the temp bar gives a mixture of cold and heated air.
The bilevel allows extra vents to emit air, the defrost, heat, and windows vents.
Still allows temperature control via the slider.
This is all on the SA. So if your vent or bilevel does't pull heat then its probably
some lever hung up under there I guess.

Mine is the same as yours. heat wont blow directly on my face, but i get it on my feet and out of the defroster spots. i kind of started to think that the face-level vents are only for air conditioning and vent. does yours have AC? mine isn't hooked up. that's just what i suspect.
(personally i like it that way, i find it more comfortable)

I don't think it's right either, and i was poking around with it today, but couldn't figure much out. it almost seems like the 4 face level vents are connected just to outside air - i was noticing there aren't any shut offs for the two center vents other than the vent button , so that's my reasoning for that. I'm probably way wrong, though.
