Did you unplug them before trying to manually lower them?

project7 is correct. With power applied, they will keep doing up. If you disconnect the positive battery cable, you can remove the black plastic piece on top of the headlight motor and manually spin them down. Sometimes, just removing power will also reset them so they can be cycled with the headlight stalk control or the headlight up switch.

Hey Cody59 did you figure out how to get the lights to go down on their own? My car was sitting for many years and I just got it running this month. Today I turned on the lights for the first time since getting the car running and now the lights stay up?

The headlight wiring diagram is pretty simple. Test your headlights individually and make sure they go up and down on their own, then make sure you are getting power to the motors. Should not be too difficult to troubleshoot. Do you have the wiring diagram?

Good luck.

Thanks for the responses guys! I appreciate it, however I forgot that I had unplugged the switch that raises the headlights. Once the switch was plugged back in the lights went down as they should.
