Headlights going crazy!!! :(

When I turn on my headlights, the come up, and go down right away, and just keep going up/down/up/down.... its embarassing. And my dash lights wont illuminate... it just happened. One day they worked, the next they didnt. I think it has to do with the position switch. Any ideas?

check your fusible links, and all the fuses in your fuse box first. My friend had a 84 300zx & i pulled his fuses for his headlights, and when he turned them on, the lights kept going up & down. i know its a different car, but stilla good example.

your sure the alternator isn't going bad? All my electronics started freaking out like the car was posessed shortly before the car stopped running.

I was being to hasty... i needed to fix it so i could drive somewhere today, and rushed it. Its okay, I found a wiring diagram. Its wired back up, but the headlights wont go down, and i still have no dash lights.

Dash fuse is in the box under the dash, (meter fuse). Headlight motor fuse is one of the fusible links on the shock tower.

When I arm my alarm system the dash lights flash, like they used to, but they dont turn on with my headlights. I also noticed my taillights and side markers are the same. the only time they work is when I arm/disarm my alarm... I think I really messed something up, but the switch is wired properly. Maybe i shorted a wire somewhere?

As a simple troubleshooting exercise, try just holding the wire to the pinout that you suspect is needed for the "hold" circuit. If your headlight stays up, go ahead and solder it up.

I've narrowed it down to the positive feed that comes from the light combination switch (red and yellow wire to lower the lights). So its wither the wire itself, the combination switch, and the white and red wire TO the combination switch. I'll update soon.

If i need to replace the switch, where can i find one? RX7 heaven is gona nad its not available from mazdatrix. (Anyone parting out an 84?)
