Headlight "thunk!" noise

Opening the headlights is no problem but when I close them, there is a "thunk" sound coming from the left headlight when it swings down. Is there any way to adjust this to get rid of the noise? Thanks!

You'll likely find that one (or more) of the plastic bushes that fit in the ends of the actuator arms is broken and missing. This'll cause the thunk noise. Replace the arm, and all will be well. Here in Aus, they are available at the local Mazda dealer and are quite cheap.

Err this is embarassing but I've looked into the headlight mechanism and still cannot seem to find the bushes. Anyway it's just that the left one clunks more than the right.

check that no wires are getting in the way of the mechanism, mine had a wire caught and made a loud thunk when they closed

The bushing is a plastic piece that covers the ball joint in the headlight linkage. I'll take a picture for you when I get home.

If you can't get them over there, I can order them for you here from my local Mazda dealer.
