Sounds like you are putting a pretty good pull on your alt when you turn on your lights. Stock lamps?

Does your alternator charge well? Could be bad grounding. Do the headlight rewire project, it should help!

Find the headlight relay installation thread. You might be able to upgrade and solve this issue all at the same time for just a few bucks... Sounds like you have a short somewhere though, installing the relays should eliminate all of the heavy load on the stock wiring. Good luck.

you can also add a few more ground wires to your alt., headlights, batt trust me bad grounds caz alot of problems..and it doesint hurt to have alot of gournds woot scrape the paint and ground it st8 to the body make a new hole self taping screw works really good dont ever use bolts or other factory grounds.... just make a new1 that way you know its a good ground

if your going to add afew to the batt. i would use 4 gauge also if you are wanting to make a ground kit for your motor i would use 4 gauge for the lights and and thing like that i woudlint go any bigger than 10g 10 would be on the overkill side but it wouldint hurt anything i would use either 12g or 10g happy grounding

Are you still running the air pump? If you have removed it, then you need a dual belt pulley for the alt. If the air pump is present, check belt tension, then look into getting your alt tested. Adding extra grounds is a bandaid instead of fixing the electrical system properly.

Another thought, do you have an aftermarket stereo system? If so, look into upgrading the alt. The stock one is only 50 amps.

you would make better grounds from the battery to the body....and than make a fwe good grounds from the motor to the body you could also run a ground wire from the alt case/body to the motor
