headers for HP?

I've got an 83S that is currently stock with the exception of a RB exhaust aft of the stock headers. No catalytic converter. I am looking to get some inexpensive horsepower, and was thinking of finishing off the exhaust with the RB headers and swapping the stock carb for a Sterling Nikki. The questions are:

1) is there really any benefit to adding the RB headers, or can I get by with stock headers when using a Sterling Nikki?
2) assuming the Sterling Nikki is properly jetted, what kind of boost in RWHP can I expect with these mods?

Thanks guys.

Dave

Do exhaust first. The headers will help a bunch. Then do the Sterling later (or at the same time if you can afford it).

Yes, you'll want to finish the exhaust first, otherwise you won't get any benefits from further mods.

The Sterling is an excellent choice for carb. I love mine. Never dyno'd it, but the power is definitely there. Check out my videos if you get a chance.

What they said

The stock manifold is so restrictive that you need to get the headers to enable any modification beyond stock that you do for the intake. If you do the intake first you will be very disappointed until the headers are on there.
