Excellent information Mike, thanks.

A quick google search of your part number yields a full set for about $15 delivered (less than half what I just paid!)

I think I'll order some for the future.

Last time i changed my windshield on my FB about 6 years ago, my glass guy had a hard time finding one. He had to drive almost 4 hours to pic it up. Cost him about 150 used and i got charged about 250 total. I had a spare windshield in storage and some smart person decided to drop a wrench on it. FC arent doing much better when it comes to new ones either, but at least there are more used FC out there to take the glass from. I had a sp

Ray,the glass inspection: Willing assistant, clean glass thoroughly(no stickers). Daylight, but not direct sunlight. Your backyard?picnic table/bench under tree? Have your assistant hold glass stationary resting on table approximating installed angle of windshield. Sit on bench/chair close like in driver seat of your car and look straight ahead up/down. Turn your head & look to your right thru glass like you would at a car approaching an intersection you are stopped at. Focus on something, part of house,car,etc.Slide/move over to right side of glass and do same to the left. Then do the above with a good pair of polarized sunglasses. Majority of imperfections will show themselves.

New one installed in March, 2018. Local glass shop took a week to have one in from CA to AZ. No problem.

I just got off the phone with the Atlanta low price auto glass place that Ray referenced in this thread. They can still get them. Quoted me $185. Looks like I'm driving up there Saturday.

Those dudes at Atlanta Low Price are so clever.

They managed to get $195 plus tax ($204) our of me for an FB windshield just before Christmas!

(It's my spare, for when they really do become Unobtanium).

Incidentally I recently installed the first one I purchased at the beginning of this thread.

My main suggestion is do it yourself, you'll do a much better job than the glass shops.

It was a steep learning curve but now I'm an expert, let me know if you have any questions.

Lot's of photos and details posted somewhere, I kind of lost track.

That shop is holding a windshield for me now.
I found out another source for new ones, Rinehart’s Auto Parts. I’ve bought several used parts from them, good business.

@mwpayne Are you travelling to pick it up or having them ship it up? I don't really NEED one now but my glass does have a chip that seems stable. I ask because I may see if we can combine shipping.

Make sure they give you the correct windshield. They initially pulled a FC windshield for me. I also had a 6 hour round trip
Luckily they had the correct one in the warehouse locally.

The product number for the 1st gen RX-7 windshields is: FW00462 GGN XYG

Have you heard the rumor that 1st gen glass is NLA?-4fs25aw.jpg

Here's an interesting link to what the wholesalers see, you can find the FW00462 GGN XYG unit in the list:

http://www.autoglassnegotiator.com/A...P_oct-2017.pdf

It looks like this is what the shops pay wholesale for a 1st gen RX-7 windshield, depends on manufacturer:

Economy: TFG, DXG, YHG $85.62

Mid-grade: XYG, PPG, Pilkington $136 (this is the unit I've purchased from Atlanta Low Price)

High end: Carlite, Mopar, OE $206.55

Out of curiosity - why wouldn't you go with "High-End" option, knowing that these are quite scarce and would have to be custom made? At that price, I'd buy 2 and store one in my garage for 20 years from now when everyone else flying Moller Sky Cars and I have the roads all to myself...
