there are little clips one the side of each on the glass side then you slide the little metal stud out and you have sucessfully removed the strut from the glass. I dont know about the body mount but I think it is bolted on

unscrew them. the new shocks will come with new anchors to screw in. trust me, my dumbass sat in a driveway for 3 hrs with everyhand tool imaginable trying to separate the two until my friend found the new posts down in the packaging.

Theres only like 3 or 4 screws the hold the boby mold into place but it is hinged on the bottom so dont just rip it out. then you should be able to acess the mount

Yeah..did all that. The damn bolt won't budge. I just sprayed it with some of that lube wrench so see if that'll help, who knows.

What the hell are you guys talking about? All you need to do is pop the cap off the body side of the strut and it comes off. And dont' worry about taking the ball anchor out, just use the same ones. Glass side as per damons instruction..lol

Remove the whole strut assembly using your brother's metric wrenches.

Yeah, Mazdatrix has 'em. I just got a set 'cause my hatch kept falling on my head. Been that way ever since I installed those metal louvers. Anyway, the ones I got from Mazdatrix really do the job, louvers and all. So Manntis, hold your nose, go on their site, and order a set. You'll survive it Oh, come to think of it, the ones from Mazdatrix didn't come with the electrical connectors and junk for the rww. Is that what you mean? If so, the units come off your old strut and can be installed on the new strut. That's what I did.

Naw, not all of them do. My OEM's didn't, but the replacements did.

It's a pita to get at, but if you have the right metric open end, you can get to the posts. If I remember right, one of mine was pretty damn tight, too. The other one wasn't.

problem is the 'switch' on the strut (which is apparently coated in platinum - it ain't cheap) is prone to flying apart if I attempt to swap it to another strut. A plastic retainer has broken in it, and it's held together by one small clip and faith. In addition, the wiring is shrink-wrapped to the strut. It might sound fussy, but I'd hate to use electrical tape (not wanting to heat the strut - a pressurized device - by attempting to heat-shrink a new sock over the wiring). Once it ages electrical tape becomes brittle, saggy, and ugly.

So in other words I'm looking for struts WITH the switch built on. VB has the switchless ones for cheap (they were on sale last time I checked) and I'm sure Mazdatrix does too... but it's not what I'm looking for

Mine had the broken retainer and was also held on faith, I transferred it to the new Strong Arm shock no problems. Bought shrink wrap but never used it......couple a zip ties instead (black of course, looks fine.)

Right on.

I just checked every place I know of and couldn't find any wired for wiper. Sorry, Manntis.

I wrapped mine with black wire loom and it looks great. I actually like it better than the original heat shrink.

where'd you get the new Strong Arm ones? I was told Strong Arm no longer made the model that fits our cars.

The Strong Arm model # is 4709. (don't know why I remember that number) Many places sell it, even Crappy Tire. I got mine from Carquest (I had to give them the actually strongarm model number for them to find it cuz my car wasn't listed GSL-SE)

Both sides are the same (but as you've been discussing the wiper stuff has to be transfered over.

Personally I just bought the driver side hatch strut and it holds up the hatch fine. (no problems).

The strongarm replacement struts have the removable ball anchor, but the OEM's don't.
