Here is a link to the pic. I'm just trying to see exactly what is included in this. There is a pic, but I don't know enough about these engines to know what else other than rotor and side seals I will need (crossing fingers hoping mine are OK.)

Well apparently Mazda doesn't like links.

Anyways, I went to my local mazda dealership and asked about their overhaul gasket kit. It is exactly like the one in your link. Best part is, it is all mazda parts, and is less than half the price of the gasket kit in your link.

I picked up a gasket kit from mazda for about $92 (been a while) with my discounts, normally it is about $110.

Yeah, the pic in that first link looks to be a full "soft seals" kit.

Everything except the combustion, compression, and oil-control "hard" seal components and springs that go on the rotors themselves.

Yeah. It really looks like the Mazda kit is a better deal. The Mazda one has all that stuff with the exception of the oil control o-rings and those aren't too expensive. Plus, I know that the Mazda ones will fit perfectly and have a long life.

To the OP: this is only the soft seals for the engine (the cheap part of the rebuild ). It does not contain any of the hard seals, springs, etc. Also, it is common for your rotor housings to be flaking chrome (unless low mileage engine) and this means new housing ($$$, if you can find them) or good used ones (also can be hard to find).

Unfortunately, it isn't like a Chevy 350 or a Ford 302 where everyone and their grandmother makes a kit for. These engines are specialized: not much demand = not many suppliers = expensive.

Negative on the oil control rings. Comes with every external gasket (exhaust gasket, waterpump, front cover, coolant seals, etc), but I am not too sure if it comes with the oil pan gasket.

Totally worth the price, the intake manifold gasket and exhaust gasket I have seen go for 70$ alone.

Mazda one does have the oil pan gasket. It has every soft seal on the engine with the exception of the oil control o-rings

I'm gonna be a little lazy here, so my appologies, but does anyone have the Mazda part number for this kit? Also, where would I find these oil control o-rings?

Thanks
Jesse

Mazda kits are here: http://www.mazdatrix.com/b2.htm

The oil control o-rings are available from Mazdatrix as well. The price of kits vary depending on the year. The 81-82 kit runs about $107. The 83-85 kit is a bit more. The GSL-SE kit has gone up a lot! I bought one a couple years ago for about $130..now they are over $230!

If you have a 12A, get the 81-82 kit. The 83-85 kit will mostly just have the additional stuff for the beehive oil filter. Just get those o-rings from somewhere else. There may be some other slight differences, but almost everything is the same between them.
