Has anyone seen this done before?
I pulled the engine out of my GSL-SE today and noticed what I can only think is a mistake on Mazda's part. The rear rotor exhaust port is noticably smaller than the front exhaust port. They aren't even close. The back one doesn't close near as late as the front one. They are about to be enlarged tomorrow anyways but I just wanted to see if anyone has seen this before. I have built several engines and they have all had equal sized ports. This really limits the power the rear rotor can provide. The car has great low end power but nothing on the top end. My n/a second gen was much different. Anyone else here with a GSL-SE that has the same thing?

The engine was never rebuilt. When I pulled the engine apart there was no signs of porting (until now!). I made a call to Chris at Rotary Performance and he thinks that there might have been a mixup at the factory when it was built. Some countries had different porting configurations. He thinks that one housing may have gotten mixed up on the wrong assembly line. It does explain why I couldn't get as much power as I should have out of it. Thanks for the responses. AJC I've seen your site. Cool car! I need to go to Australia sometime.
