H2O down the CARB.
So a while back there was a post about pouring water down your Carb. to wash off all the build up in your engine. I was very skeptical even after reading the replies that said it worked. So iin an attempt to try anything to my car to make it run good i decided to give it a whirl. I have one word to describe my reaction............WOW!!!!!!!..........thats all i could say after my tounge pulleed back in my mouth! I had my bro pour 20oz. down the carb....not all at once....just a little at a time. For the first 30 secoonds there was THICK white smoke coming out the exhaust! So thck i couldnt see through it. Then eventually the smoke went away no matter how much water i poured down there. So after seeing that i know that whatever was in there was spit out! Im going to do this again!!!!! I took it for a spin for 30 min. First thing i noticed was it sounded a whole lot smoother. Next i noticed it ran smoother. Then this is what really sold me on it working, At each stop sign i would take off exactly how i normally do.....(without spinning the tires) ........but now it will just spin em.....and i do nothing different than i normally do!!! so i know its running stronger. It kicks me back a whole lot more than it used to. EVERYONE DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!
I've been contemplating this myself... How much total did you pour down? What did you rev at while your bro was dumping the water in? Are we talking a trickle, a slow pour, medium pour, generous? How much water over how much time? Sterling is rebuilding my carb, and when i get it back she might be getting the water treatment all depending...
i used a gallon, and i did it by holding the engine about 3k rmps then just trickled it down into the carb till i bogged alittle then i would let the engine warm back up and do the same thing over, just make sure you let you engine warm up first then let it stay warm for about 15 to 20 min after wards to prevent rustin.
I'm all for it!! As soon as I get my rebuilt carb back on my '83 GSL tomorrow (and hopefully I fixed my problem----see thread: WTF is wrong with my car!!) and as long as it's running correctly, I'm doin the same!!

vacuum line?
2 things
1 can ui ise the vacuum line from teh idle compensator valve to feed water into my 12a?
2.) its an older motor and the housing seels are going, will i by cleaing it out like this be hastening the fatigue in these seals to the point that i am only buying a short term gain in return for rebuilding sooner?

1 you can feed it through a vac. line
2 if the seals are going theyre going, but by doing tis your going to knock out the carbon build up behind them and this should keep them from breaking anysooner.

thanks
thansk
so it will prolonge the life of the engine? as opposed to hastening it if say carbon is plugging a hole in the seal?
and any vacuum line? so the idle compensator line will be fine?

Be careful if you have enough carbon buildup it will come out in chunks and that will lilley bend your valves
oh were talking about rotaries arnt we! Maybe the carbon chunks will streetport your exhaust for free!

I put 20 oz down the carb. I made sure my car was warmed up, I kept it revved to 3k rpm's. then my bro would keep a steady flow of water until the car would rev down to 2k rpms. Then i would let the white smoke dissipate and the car would rev back p to 3k. we kept doin that until it wouldnt smoke anymore. After it no longer smoked i had my bro pour it all in with a steady pour. I made sure to keep the car running, i never let it get below 2k rpm's. I then drove it for a good 30 min....i had some errands to run. But i loved it and plan to do it again with about a gallon of water on sun. Give it a good washing!!!
be ok on the weber?
the weber doesnt smoke.. and has been rebuilt
but car smells like fuel everytime i start and run it..
even more so after replacing the stock nikki to the weber.. even though it doesnt smoke as much..
