GTECH Pro Comp

Hey,

Those of you who own or have owned or know someone who owns a GTECH Pro let me have your opinion of them. I just bought one from Summit and I want to know what kind of accuracy they give and if they can help me with some estimates on what my car is capable of. Thanks.

Nate,
the new one?

I got the new one...it rocks!

I'm still waiting for the software upgrade. I want to be able to download my runs into my PC. I sent them (gtech support) an email today and the release was scheduled for the end of January, still waiting...

yeah from what i've heard it still plugs into the cig lighter and it's got some kind of intelligent rpm shift light that i believe functions on the basis of reading your estimated horsepower from acceration and transfering this info into a powerband type thing, therefore "knowing" when it is optimal for you to shift. It's got indiglo so it's cool and i think it looks awesome. mine is supposed to be delivered by tomorrow. i'm in NY and Summit had to ship it from the Nevada warehouse instead of the usual Ohio one. that's why it's gonna take an extra day or so to get here. damn i can't wait, lol!

calibration can be tricky.

the rpms are registered thru the power supply cable by registering the noise the car's electrical system makes.

The shiftlights are preset, no it does not tell you when to shift...it just lights the shiftlights at a preset rpm. The cool thing is that it has a nice graph function which is based on TIME vs. RPM this is the most useful function IMO and let's you know by simple physics when you are suppose to shift. Basically you review your run and then adjust your driving to get better times.

I have knocked off a bit of time in my shifts...

I know I need more traction because of this and it helped diagnose a slightly slipping clutch at third!

i say it's a great tool if you know how to use it.

..

I bought the G-tech pro, not the new one, but i didn't try it lol.. I had it when i stored my car in november. But, it is supposed to be very accurate on the 0-60mph time and 1/4 time, as for the horses, i don't know yet!
