Angry Suspension fix quote!!!

I slid into a small curb, going 15km/h my rim seemed to be pointing inward a few degrees and the bottom part of the rim seemed to go in a little farther than usual. I dodn't think mch of it, maybe a new tie rod, or control arm, and a re alignment. Aparently Canadian tire, a canadian car repair place quoted me $1800, man repairs were the bent rim, new control arm, and a new spindle. The spindle goes for 350. what the hell is this thing, and does it make sence that i would need a new one. they also meationed that i needed a few new bearings. could i do any of this by my self, and what should i let the actual repair men take care of?
Thanks for any input
-Matt

No way. I slid into a curb at 30mph, camber was somewhere between 4-7deg. Only cost $120(us) Camber reem + normal alignment job. Alignment was perfect after that. Now it's messed up again, hit another curb at 10mph, summer tires in snow SUCK. It's not nearly as bad this time, but it'll probably about the same $ to fix again.

ask around in the Canadian forum for a reputable Ontario repair shop. Crappy Tire is one of the WORST games in town when it comes to price gouging or swapping unneccessary parts.

the spindle is what your wheel bearings go on. it is a shaft that is mounted at the bottom of your shock assembly. Your wheels rotate around it.
