gslse quarter glass gasket options

So i removed the quarter glass from my gslse to fix some rust at the rear but in doing so, the old gasket/rubber was so brittle it cracked apart. So I am wondering what everyone uses to replace these gaskets? OEM? Is it okay ton leave nothing and just use urethane to re glue the glass in? Im worried about crap accumulating in the crevices and causing rust... What are my options?

most people use nothing, that's how you tell the glass was out. if you're really concerned i would just order it from a mazda dealer i know that adds shipping, but you'll get the right part

I've got factory glass. It didn't have a gasket. Just a thick bead of window adhesive. I reinstalled them that way after my paintjob. Two and a half years and no leaks.

Was some 3M stuff I got from the local autopart store. It came in a caulking tube. It was fresh paint so for me there was no prep. If you are just replacing, make sure to clean ALL the goo off. Use a scotch brite pad to scuff the sealing surface. Acetone, let dry. Then Run a 1/4" thick bead. Set the window in place and put the nuts on.

Test fit first to make sure you know where the bead should go.

K so gotsome 3m urethane and single step primer. Read that the quarter glass is structural so im using the urethane versus the window tar stripa. Thanks everyone!
