just picked this girl up. 85 GSLSE rust free with 90k in the clock. All original. Can’t wait to put some miles on her and see how long I can make the engine last

Congrats man! Post some more pics of the interior/driveline/engine. We can get a good gauge on the car and help put together a to-do list for you so that you can help maintain it well.
Beautiful car! Mine has 250.000 miles on the engine and runs perfectly. I change the oil and filter (Wix) about every 4000 miles and put 4 ounces or so of Marvel Mystery oil in the tank when I fill up.
Beautiful Tender Blue Metallic SE!!! If you do not modify it and keep up on the maintenance, it will last a long long time. A few club members have over 300k on their original SE engine!
the only thing im looking to do is springs and racing beat exhuast. I'm reading racing beats install manual and it sates to remove the air pump. do you know if this is something that truly needs to be done or can i leave it? the car is 100% stock with factory ac and id like to keep the ac.
You dont have to remove the Air Pump with 13b SE header.
I ran my Air Pump with Racing Beat 13b SE header and Presilencer the whole time I've owned it. In fact, the Air Pump will help on deceleration to avoid backfiring, and will help to keep the RB exhaust system cooler. Theres no reason to remove it.
this is exactly the information im looking for!!
No need to remove air pump or anything else besides your stock exhaust and some heat shields. Love my -SE with the RB. Woke her up nicely. RB springs are next for me, too. But first I need to update my battery cables and spruce up my starter. Enjoy!
There is still a reason to remove it. It saps power. I can't tell you what percentage of Racing Beat's HP gains is due to its removal, but it's one less thing spinning at 7,000 RPM at the top of your power band. It's also pretty heavy.
Not sure it keeps the exhaust cooler. Air is introduced to promote afterburn, which heats up the exhaust. It will however help with the smell.
