Angry GSL-SE Rear End Weight

Ok guys I have a complete gsl-se rear end...

Without tires from rotor to rotor without calipers with the diff still attached to the rear end, what is the rough weight of this item...Im trying to get a shipping quote for this item...From San Diego CA to Carson CO...

i don't need the exact weight just rough close sketch to what the over all weight would be thanks...

I'm going to throw out a guess of about 80 lbs.

Throw it on a bathroom scale.

I recall reading 250lb somewhere, that may have been with calipers.

Another thing I recall reading is that Series 3 disk rears weigh 50lb more than Series 2 when all-up.

I have one sitting on a cart out back of my garage. If I had a scale, I'd weight it for you. I'd guess it's in excess of 100 lbs. But no where near the weight of the 3.55 '93 Mustang rear end that it's sitting next to.

I installed the GSL rear into my '85 GS since it seemed to be somewhat lighter in weight compared to the GSLSE rear.

The Rx-7 rear end is small, but they are still pretty heavy. I am a fairly large guy, and I can't lift one by myself. I'm going to guess 200 lbs, maybe a little more even. They are definitely heavier than a transmission, and more awkward than an engine.

I'll agree they are quite a bit heavier than a transmission but I would doubt its much more than 100lbs... I sit at a desk all day and don't go to the gym (nerd!) and I can easily move one around by my self (with brakes, watts link etc etc on there)

Be interesting to see some actual numbers though, I sold my extra GSL rear a few weeks ago otherwise i'd go weigh it. Would also be interesting to see how much more the S3 rears are compared to the earlier ones. They are definatly heavier, but I can't imagine it would be 50 lbs....

i have a gsl rear right now with all the controll arms and watts link attached to it still and i can pick it up and move it around in my garage. Id say one with out controll arms and no calipers its probably about 125ish.

I shipped an 84-85 GSL rear a while back with no brakes. So no rotors, calipers, or caliper brackets. Was at about 85lbs if I remember right.

I would recomend puting it on a scale. I used a bathroom scale.

My guess is 125 complete with pumpkin. I can just barely curl one and I can just barely curl 125 at the gym.

I shipped through UPS. basically took a sheet of plywood and screwed 2x4's to the bottom. Strapped the rear to it with pipe strap. Wrapped the top with card board. I was able to ship it regular shipping and not oversize frieght.
