GSL-SE motor problems

Alright so my 84 gsl-se has been sitting for about 3 or 4 months because i didn't have the part to fix it. So I got the part put it on and turned the motor over and right before it was about to turn over and start it spit out antifreeze out my exhaust, a lot of it. What could be the cause of this?

There are two O-Rings between the intake and the motor that will sometimes go bad so I would check those first. If that is not the cause, then it is an internal water seal, which would call for a rebuild.

However, if you are feeling adventerous, then check out my thread:

Coolant seal inside th engine. Teardown time, or try some stop leak.

well the motor only has 81K on it. so do you think it could still be an internal leak??

Correct me but I don't think the -se has the intake o-rings?

Sorry about that. I am by no means an expert on the SE models.

Check out that thread I posted. Sounds like it might be your best bet at this point. Good luck!

the only thing i have done to it in hookin stuff up and putting it back was the spark plugs, but it that was a while ago and it started right up after i did that. so i don't think anything is hooked up wrong

And is that stop leak stuff not bad for you motor or anything? id rather replace the seal if its possible without to much trouble.

Replacing the water seal means a rebuild.

You might want to read the link I posted and try Alumiseal first.

A rebuild can be done at home, if you have the right tools and can follow directions. You can buy a DVD that will walk you through the process. Not sure on costs for seal kits or added expenses though...

you can always get by for awhile with the block weld trick Paul Yaw did 1st and works really well it will hold you over until you can get the money and or time for rebuild.
