GSL-SE fuel gauge and temp gauge issue...searched
First of some background on this car. Car sat for 7-8 years for most of the time in a garage. The car now has a large street port and running a racing beat intake and a holley carb, headder and other parts to support the engine.
I have a few questions about the fuel gauge and temp gauge. Neither of wich is working right now. First lets start with the fuel gauge, i swaped the "meter" fuse and it did nothing towards my problem. I would like to know the proper orientation of the lever unit in the tank, i did not pull the lever out and we just put a new tank in the car. Also what kind of voltage should i be seeing at the terminals of the level sender. As of right now i do not have voltage at either yellow wire and the ground right now is run directly to a know good source just for testing purposes. Also is there any way to jump the circuit to the gauge to get it to read fuel level.
As for the coolant temp, what kind of voltage should i be seeing at the terminal? Also what is the wire color that connects to the coolant temp sender?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Izzy

fuel gauge is pretty simple, it just changes resistance as it goes thru its sweep. actually the temp gauge does too.
easy way to diagnose the temp gauge (i'm out of order i know) is to remove the wire from the sender, which is under the oil filter. and ground it, if the gauge moves, then the sender is either bad or there is no coolant.
actually i think the fuel gauge is the same way, but you could pop the sender out, and run it thru its range to see how it does.

the FSM is pretty good here, they are simple circuits.
