Question GSL-SE Exhaust

I own a 1984 gsl-se, im wondering if i can bypass my 6 port actuators. Can i eliminate them and still retain what driveability i have. If not then I am looking for a used back pressure pickup up tube , mine has become dust(hehe). i have a racing beat header/presilencer but i want to get rid of the silencer , anybody wanna make me sum custom 2.5 piping to work on my car? I also need the rear connecting pipe. Im willing to pay wat it costs for shipping and the time. People around here wont touch a rotary.

From what I understand, the car runs on 4 ports until it it reraches something like 5 or 6 grand then the exhaust pressure built is used to open the other 2 ports, providing more high end torque. peak low end torque ranges from 2through 6 thousand rpm then slowly drops from there. The 2 extra ports pick up where the lowend left off. I don't think they are completely nessecery for daily driving. You can rig them open and bypass the whole pressure build up phase, run w/o the presilencer. But you lose some low-end torque.

i would sell , but the dip that installed it hacked of the flange so u would have to weld it to your pickup tube or find another flange to weld on. (i will take this into consideration when pricing)

I am wanting to rebuild my exhaust , i am gonna keep my header. i need to work from there , ne suggestions?

Greenville? Isn't that like a decent sized town?

Here in Hooterville my muffler guy (that I've been seeing for 2 years now), referred to my exhaust manifold/heat shield as 'another catalytic converter'.
He's NOT doing my RB header.

Of which....

I'm having another shop put my header on and catalytic converter. No presilencer being used. The cat has the 6-port tube so I'm covered with that.

And yes, aparently all the muffler men like cutting flanges off.

I'm personally a fan of my 5th and 6th ports... they kick in at around 4krpm and suddenly the tach speeds the hell up

Is the back pressure pickup tube connected to a valve on the exhaust pipe?

Have you considered going with at cat/convert setup w/air tube?

With the exception of the presilencer/tube and cc/tube, I've never seen anything that will actuate the 6-port that comes from your exhast.

If you remove the actuation system you will be noticable slower below about 4k rpm. The stock tube that comes from the cat does have a tee in it that goes to the actuators. They open when they see 2 psi of exhaust pressure (around 4k rpm, load dependent). There is a way to actuate them straight off of the air pump rather than the exhaust. Do a search for this. I've seen it on a couple of websites but can't remember where. I got the links from this forum a month back or so.

Im not WANTING to bypass my actuators, i just need a new actuator setup, my pickup tube is shot, and i need a new one and new actuators, then i gotta find somebody to weld the tube to my presilencer(again!!!). From there i am gonna have to get a new exhaust from pre-silencer back. anybody know of a good bolt-on from the presilencer? (I WISH I STILL HAD MY PICKUP TUBE FLANGES !!!!! THEN I COULD BOLT A NEW TUBE ON!!!!!)

Can anybody help my situation??

dang it!!! I knew I shouldn't have cut that thing off. I was trying to fix my manifold and couldn't get to the nuts to tighten them so I cut the tube off. I know the valve thing was supposed to be mounted back farther because of the pictures in the haynes manual. The guy before me that had the cats removed welded the tube and valve to the side of the exhaust and then ran the rubber tube to the engine. There was no hole cut in the exhaust to allow air to enter, the valve and tube were just welded to the side for looks I guess.

I am still confused because my car has awesome low end torque and great high end torque. Does this mean that my other ports aren't opening or closing
