GSL-SE engine project questions

Ok, i have a 83 GS with a 12A. I currently have the following mods :

-Dellorto Carb
-Racing Beat complete exhaust system
-no air pump, no rats nest
-racing beat fuel pressure regulator
-Tokico HP shocks with lowering springs
- Carter fuel Pump (not installed yet)
- Racing Beat intake manifold

I got a 13B when i bought the car and i want to swap the engine in my fb. I heard i'll need a RB header for 13B because the 12A headers don't fit on the 13B. What do i need other than that??

I also thought of rebuilding the 13B because it has 160 000Km on it. Do i take the chance to put it in the car???

Max

You also need to get a 12a to 13b adapter for your carb. I've seen 12a headers work on 13b by cutting the flange and stetching it but I wouldn't recomend it. Also need a 13b motor mount or just slot the 12a one.

putting an engine in yer car and having it go out 1000 miles later isint that bad... pulling engines and swapping is a 1 day deal... not much chance there

I`d say put it in the car first.Get it running, and try to sort out the little things that may need attention.

Iotus : It is possible, but 4 big guys are needed, and then its still not easy..The weight transfer when we picked it up,caused havoc when i did mine.I almost detroyed the front end of the car

ah, common, My dad and I lifted the 22R onto my toyota's frame.... I guess it'd be harder with the cab on...

but we lifted the cab and box off the frame too!

It's definately worth the $200 (canadian funds) to buy a cheap cherry picker. They work on gravel driveways too, in case you were wondering... just put down a couple 4x8' sheets of 1/2" thick plywood, and it works perfectly.

I swapped engines on my SE's from Friday to Saturday last Labor day by myself with a cherry picker. Just needed a helper to raise or lower the engines when I was benchpressing the tranny up though.

ohh yeah... air tools help it along much faster...
