gsl-se engine

ive recently stumbled across what i believe is a gsl-se in a local junkyard. i cant tell for sure because there are no markings on it. i believe the gsl-se had a FI 13B with a different intake from all the rest. its squared off instead of round right? this one has maroon cloth interior, didnt the gsl-se come with that? anyway some moron tore the hell out of the rear, crushed the rear calipers(which i believe were better than any other 1st gens calipers?) and left the stuff sitting around the car. the motor looks still intact and i was told that one of the guys that works at the junk yard use to own the car and there is nothing wrong with it. they say it was a strong running motor. my problem is i dont know if i believe them or not, the cars interior is pretty good, the body was in good shape (even still has the full ground effect kit on it) so i dont see any reason to junk the car. they want $150 for the engine with NO guarentee it will even run. i was about to say but i figured i would ask you guys if you would buy it under these conditions if you had the chance. also would it be hard to put this engine into an 80 rex with a carb'd 12A in it? thanks for the advise!

ur right... the 6port came with fi. IMHO, i will not buy it unless he gives a warranty. u wont know the actual condition til u fire it up or take the engine apart. otherwise, remove the exhaust manifold and ck if the seals on the rotor are still there. if u decide to take it, get the front engine mount to install the 13b in ur 80 and the oil cooler for extra parts.. it will be up to u if u want to do an fi conversion. i hope it works out for u

If you decide not to buy it, would you be willing to get me some parts off it?

$150 for a complete 13B is cheap or so I have found out... So you'll get the wiring, intake, exhaust, CAS sensor, the power steering pump, A/C, etc? Id jumped on that right away! So why is the car junked? Thats odd?

I got 4 core 12A blocks for $200... And I knew they didnt work... I just needed motor parts, but depends on what you need. If you want a perfectly running motor, better be ready to spend more than that...

Ask them if they'll give you 30-60 days to try to get the thing running. Most guys that work at junkyards are willing to give you some kind of a cheezy warranty, only if it means selling the part. You'd be surprised. They are humans trying to make a living, after all...

See if you can ****** the whole car for around $200-300.

They'll likely want to move it to get another car in.
