GSL SE Cold Start
Hey guys,
I have a GSL-SE that when i start cold will usually rev up to 2000 - 3000. I learned i can control how far it goes up by how much you touch the throttle. However recently it has sometimes been going to 3500. Now this is just ridiculous in my opinion. Now i know that it is a system on the car somewhere, but i dunno where or how exactly it works or why its malfunctioning or how to check it. Should it be disabled?
Thanks,
Nathan

No problem - very easy to adjust. If you've got the stock coolant hose from the water pump to the thermal pellet on the throttle body (then on to the rear iron) with everything intact, it's just a screwdriver fix.
First off, decide if you want to adjust the temp at which the wax pellet drops the system back to regular idle speed. That adjustment is done from overhead, straight down onto the adjustment screw on the back side of the throttle linkage (firewall side). As the car warms, the brass plunger will rise from the wax pellet housing. The closer the lever rides to the brass plunger, the further the plunger will have to rise before knocking the throttle stop off the fast-idle cam.
To set the actual idle speed, you simply have to adjust how far the throttle gets opened when it's on the fast idle cam. You can check my build thread, below, for some help. The second link may have the photos you need.
