I'm with Mosesx605 on this when he states that you ran the red light, and you need to accept responsibility for your actions. If there's a fine for that offense, pay it.

Your original statements about turning the other direction pull no weight with me because it's your RESPONSIBILITY to be looking ahead of your vehicle when you're driving - without exceptions. If a pedestrian were crossing that intersection when you turned your head to dig behind the seats, and you hit them, would you be stating to the police that you're exempt from fault because you weren't paying attention? I don't think so.

Not to be an @$$, but you should chalk this up as a learning experience and try not to run red lights in the future.

Also, your comment about Jesus Crist being on your side is a stretch - I don't think Jesus would come to your defense on red light running... WWJD, right?

... no, but Jesus might pay for it. I seen him at Denny's the other day, eating a Grand Slam breakfast. Dude shaved...

On second thought, I think his Dad covered most his bills anyway.

Pay the ticket, dude. Stop at stop lights. Live another day.

... don't you Canadians love the way we Yanks figure the law doesn't apply to us. Our sole existence is based on fighting the laws we ourselves enact.

And most the time we get away with it !

Now the sucky thing about speeding tickets and such, is whenever I get one, I just pay the damn thing regardless. Cause If I go to court I have to miss a day of work, and the ticket is like 1/2 of whta'd I make per day, so you just pay the ******.

[QUOTE]A town can't just decide to make its speed limit 10mph everywhere, it's illegal (at least in my state). Nor can they switch instantly from a 65mph zone to a 30mph zone. There are standards that must be followed. I'm sure there are similar standards for red lights."

I believe the standard for a red light is to STOP. Do any of you really believe that the lights in Canada are set up to switch fast in an effort to catch those that run through them and kill someone? Kind of "after the fact" isn't it?
If you still believe the lights are rigged, you best stay our of Canada if the fine isn't paid - we hang those that don't pay up, especially foreigners

Red face

Well, dude... I suppose I'll throw my 2-cents worth in. I have to say that I've never gotten a ticket I didn't earn, and I've earned a lot more than I've ever gotten!

Now, I don't want to sound like the old fart that I am, but...
You earned your ticket - now pay for it! Looking in another direction while running a red light is not a defense, it's an excuse. And a poor one at that. I agree 100% with Longduck...

Well your not the only one whith this opinion. Turning your head while entering or crossing an intersection is a BIG NO NO. Pay the ticket and be glad you didnt hurt your 7, yourself, or anyone else.

The way you described the situation, sounds like it was completely your fault that you ran the red light. Maybe it was setup to switch faster, but you know this so you should have been prepared.

Anyway, I'd just pay it and get it over with.
