i got my gilmer pulley kit the other day. 4-4-08 to be dead on. it came with a belt made by Strongbelt . only specs on it are 776 8m. i looked it up and found this info.
iam trying to find a Goodyear belt or a belt that i can buy near by when the time comes that would work.

its 1.5 inches wide, round tooth.

Pitch Length (mm) Number of teeth

Well, I suppose that if you don't have enough trouble in your life yet it would make sense to install a gilmer belt.

its not a tweakit kit. i got it from a kiwi. its a round tooth belt. less heat and noise.

why do these belts **** people off so much.

iam using a gilmer setup since i removed my air pump. i tried the yahoo belt aka the pineapple belt that goes around the e shaft and water pump. every time i tried to get it on it kept twisting and broke on me. i know i could of went with a dual alt pulley but i did a setup like that on a mustang and it caused problems.

i got it from a rx7club member. he got it off of a nz web site "trade me". it worked out to be cheaper then the tweak with the exchange rate.i just went to advance, iam friendly with one of the guys there. i asked what i needed to change my alt pulley, and he told me ill save you cash just bring it and ill do it for you. when he was done he was like race ready
heres some pics my brother just took.

the black wire in the first pic is for a gauge the old owner installed. i still need to remove it.

nothing different then a v belt but theres no chances of it sliping since its round tooth.it also make a super charger like sound. since i removed my air pump i had to solve the problem of the belt sliping on the water pump when you gun it and at high rev's ect. i tried the pineapple racing "yahoo belt" that goes around e shaft and water pump. but it kept twist when going on. then it just broke on me.
they other way i could of went is just running 2 belts around the alt, water pump, and e-shaft. but ive heard people having problems with the two belts stretching at different rates. so one would be really tight and the other not so tight.
as a side note i like the cleaner look of this setup. cause before i would of had extra pulleys ect.

Hey guys, I am the Kiwi that organized and sent off the pulleys. Firstly I have to clear something up: To the donkey raping **** eater that thinks NZ and Aus are the same country, how about you go buy a fucken map, study it, learn something and then maybe one day you may leave the small inbred little redneck hick town you call home.
Thats better, back on topic .
I got this kit as the other ones out there seemed to be "cheap" and I am not one that likes using sub standard gear on my car. These kits are made locally in NZ and seem to better quality than some of the others I have seen around. For starters the others seem to only be 1" wide instead of 1.5" and the quality of these pulleys are great and so is the finish, everything is supplied in the kit that is needed to attach it to your engine, bolts, washers etc. I dont think the other kits are like this so in my eyes it is a very professional New Zealand built product.

Glad you are happy with it man !!

"Donkey Raping **** Eater" is a little much. I would have just gone for "Ignorant American Bastard" it's less offensive, and more factual. Either way, both of you made comments which were considered offensive to the other, so consider yourselves warned.

Sorry, I did not mean to offend as I was trying to sound sarcastic but I guess it came out sounding like I was trying to make a personal attack. I hope the original poster and others can see the funny side of my comments as it was only supposed to be seen as a laugh

thanks BADSVN2000 for chiming in. i didnt want to drop your name and have your pm boxed filled because of me.

as a side note if you plan not to run the stock fan like iam going to be doing, you need to buy some washers for the water pump. big deal cost me 2 bucks. the reason is that the bolts will go thru the water pump hub, and bind on the water pump housing. i wish i took pics to every one.

so some info needed before others install this.

1. first line up your main(e-shaft) pulley with a timing mark. remove pulley and transfer timing mark's to gilmer pulley. make a note of which timing mark you lined up with the timing needle or what ever you want to call it. so when you put the pulley on it will have the timing marks in the right place.

2.
some say you need the clutch pressed in when removing the 4 bolts on the pulley.
i just used a jack handle between my seat and the pedal. after getting the pulleys off i dont see why this is needed since you dont do any thing to the big nut which can effect the end shaft play(i think thats whats its called). note if i ever remove the bottom pulley again ill still use this trick to be safe.

3. my main pulley mite be different then yours. from rad to motor my setup was like this. 1 big pulley used for the ac, then a smaller double pulley for the water pump and alt belt, and smog pump water pump belt.
the bigger pulley came right off. on the double pulley it had a rivet holding it on so it couldn't be removed and put back on wrong. since my motor was in the car, i could not just drill it out. i just used a file and filed one end of rivet till it popped out.

i think thats it. any more questions ask away. iam getting my racingbeat header setup this week so next weekend ill get the car off the jack stands and start it up and take a video.
