Goood-bye Rat's Nest.

Busy day today, fixed my oil filler issue, and just tore out the rats nest. I didn't buy and vacuum line yet, so I can't finish the job.







Ahhh! there's my vacumm leak haha.

Clean that engine when you get it all ready to run! I'm always amazed with the difference between before and after pics.

I put everything back together temporarily, and used some clear vinyl tubing, just to see where everything is gonna go, need to pick up some real vacuum line.

I only had to use one vacuum plug, on the shutter valve. I used up all the "nipples" One has the vacuum advanced, 2 have the purge valve, one has the cruise control, one has the oil filler neck breather and one is running to the white solenoid with a line off it running to the throttle opener

Do I need to hook this green plug back up to the vacuum control?



I started the car and revved it and it doesn't backfire as much or as loud as it used to, what up with that? It seemed to idel high with the choke on, and idle rough without the choke.

Also, in the tutorial, he Ted the cruise control into the white solenoid, but I just ran it to it's own vacuum nipple, is that ok?

Go into the first gen FAQ thread, which is a sticky which is at the top of the first page, and scroll down untill you find "whats a rats nest" than it says how to remove a rats nest from an FB, click that.

Questions:

Can I run a line from my oil filled neck, and put a PCV valve somewhere along it, and just connect it to one of the vacuum nipples on the carb? Will this work?

Can my cruise control be connected directly to it's own vacuum nipple?

What you said with the PCV valve is how you're supposed to do it. I am not sure with the cruise control question, but did your idle smooth out yet? you've got a vacuum leak somewhere... get caps for the unneeded vac. ports instead of bolts in the line. start spraying around and see if you can isolate the vacuum leak and get it fixed.

I no longer have any bolts, I only had to use one vacuum cap. The rest of the vacuum nipples are being used. haven't played with the idle, too late to be messing with the car, don't wanna wake the neighbors. And my next door neighbours is my boss, don't wanna **** him off haha.

Lol you shouldn't have to adjust the idle. Most likely you just have a vacuum leak somewhere. Spray carb cleaner on all of the vac line connections to find it. The idle should go back to normal for a second if you're spraying on a place where there is a leak, then go from there.

I didn't mean adjust the idle, I meant I didn't have a chance to try 'en hunt down the problem. Ill frig around with it after work tomorrow. One of the lines may be cracked or something.
