Yes it was a whole lot lighter, a breeze to install and remove.

I have the steel roof and the "saratoga top" accessory roof.

The Saratoga top is made of a tinted plexy glass. Its very light, but you must constantly polish it to keep it from fading

I've never commented on the glass roof before, I don't know what the big deal is or why they go for such a premium.
My car came with the glass roof as well as the pouch; in fact it was the only roof the original owner has ever used.

It's not really that great, sure it gives more headroom but its noisy as heck. And if you want sun you can remove either one.
Still if I didn't have one I would probably want it

If I can just use regular plexi, withteh brackets and stuff bolted to it, I'm allright.. It gets scratched up too much or fades, I simply remove the brackets and make a new one. That's why I had the idea...

thing is, you'll have to form the plexi. The roof has three-dimensional curves, arced left to right and front to rear. In addition, the curve left to right at the rear is more exaggerated than the left to right curve at the front.

Can you form the plexi with a heat gun and use a metal one as a form.

if anyone is going to mass produce a glass sunroof for less than the going eBay price, then I would probably buy one.

My car didn't come with a 'glass moonroof, but it has a
mint pouch. went to the junkyard scored a 'glass roof
for $40.00 without the hardware. there is a difference
between metal roofs and 'glass roofs hardware. the 'glass has plastic 'tabs' and the metal use metal 'tabs' the plastic keeps the roof quite and doesn't
rattle.I love my car with the 'glass moonroof, i think it
adds a touch of class. I'm still trying to come up with
a 'softshade' that is removable on the inside, sometimes
it can get hot though. I had another one, but i sold it
to ralf for a bill.

HAHA, sorry man. The one Gamble is talking about, I found at a junkyard in San Antonio! It's now on my car, since his is a sweet hardtop! Both of mine are actually sunroof-equipped, so I am "borrowing" it. We didn't find a bag with it though But for 25 bucks....not complaining!
