Still Having Turn Signal Problems

Well I still havent gotten my turn signals to work. I took out the CPU, and opened it. It looked fine to me, but I'm not expert at electronics, so I took it over to the electronics teacher next door. (this is at my highschool)

He looked it over, and even tested both relays on the board, and they both worked fine. I think its safe to assume the CPU works fine. I'm going to get one from a junkyard just to be sure.

So about an hour ago, I pulled out my haynes manual and started looking at the 84-85 wiring diagrams. From what I can tell the turn signals do not go through the cpu at all! The hazard lights do, and they work fine.

What else should I be checking here? Are there any other relays that I dont know about?

Even if the relays work, it doesn't mean the timer does. However, the turn signals and the hazard lights do use the same timer and relays within the CPU; it's not a problem within the CPU if the hazards work.

The only difference between the hazards and flashers is the seperate switch for each: the turn signal activates left or right, the hazard activates left and right. But they both get their voltage through the timer and the same relay. So the logical answer is that the turn signal switch is not working.
You would have to check the F-02 (8 pin connector, three wires used: GR,GB,GO) connector on the steering column and if there are no bad connections, then remove the steering wheel and clean the contacts within the combination switch body.

Download the Factory wiring diagram from http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/ and it should make more sense. Section F.

I have a 84 GSL, I have completly removed the ecm that was under the passenger floor and damn near every wire that was hooked to it. All my lights still work fine.

Cause thats a different computer for your fuel injection and everything else. Were talking about the CPU on the DRIVERS side up inside the dash.

By the way, how are you doing with that? Did you get the spare CPU and swap in? That turned out to be my problem.
