Talking Getting Some Junkyard Love!

Paid a visit to my local bend me over with no lube "auto recycler" and much to my surprise hit the freakin jackpot. I am new to the whole RX-7 crowd and haven't really been out searching for parts, so this was maybe my third outing in search of the illusive 1st gen. parts. All the following parts are low milage, the reason I know is that the receipts were in the glovebox and the fact that they look almost brand new! First find was the rear shocks (KYB GR2's), second find was 1" drop springs (Performance Technique), and last was front replacement speakers (4" Pioneer Premiers). I grabbed a few other parts like new Cap w/ NGK wires, various black interior pieces and plan on getting some other stuff maybe this weekend. It was one of those cars you cannot figure out why it is even there, but it's parts are going toa cause, MY CAR! Hell if the carb on an '80 was the same as the '85 GSL I would grab that, but I don't know if it is yet. By the way, got out of there only spending $80.53 and am still getting like 20 bucks for all the cores when I return them this weekend! Sorry this is so long, but I am taking this as a really good sign for my new project. It will rise again!

SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE!!!

I know what you mean about the high end "auto recyclers" (don't you mean junkyard...you got the dog sitting right there).

Last summer at my low end junkyard I scored a first gen glass sunroof for $10 after paying $100 for mine online.

Are local Pic-a-Parts lets you pull your own parts and then turn around and charge you what high end auto recyclers are getting for their parts. I two am searching for that damn glass sunroof (mine was stolen), but this particilar car had the metal and I already have two of those!

Good deal. You can find a glass sunroof in the for sale section every so often. Good luck

Hopefully I can try two new yards I found while doing one of my a 45 mile weekend bycycling adventures. I have seen the glass' for sale a few times, but terrified of having to have something like that shipped.

Shipping is no thing on the glass, Sent and received a few with no problems. Even sent one to PR.

I hate/love to find those type cars in the yard, found a 74 datsun that looked like it just came off grandmas car port, Had 20 year old papers on the back seat.

I hear you. I am a CPA now and not a broke college kid, but I still love loading up my toolbox and heading for the junkyard. Those yards that want to babysit you while you walk around are ****. Give me the yards that have three guys hanging from the car while the forklift is hauling it in. I think the FCs hit the ground with the wiper switches already gone here.
