general automotive questions

ok if i turn left, at any speed above 5mph i hear a hum and feel a vibration in the car. the hum is originating from the right front tire area.

also if i brake hard or at high speeds, the car gets a shimmy, like a warped rotor, but i checked and all of em' look ok(i spun the frons they look straight, i started the car and put it in gear and watched the rears, they looked fine also) i do not understand what is causing these problems.

I'd check the wheel bearings, idler arm, and lower control arm bushings and ball joint.

WG beat me to it, I'd have said wheel bearings. My shadow had a problem with that.

It's possible that you may have a seizing front brake caliper or maybe one side is grabbing harder than the other and causing the warping/vibration. Usually when wheel bearings go bad they make a loud noise regardless of whether you are turning, driving straight, or whatever.

mebbe toe in or something? go get an allingment. and your wheels balanced and stuff see if that helps. woudlent hurt to doit anyways

i bet right front wheel bearings are either in need of replacement, or at least need to be repacked with grease and tightened down.

Or the lug nuts could be loose. Hate to say been there, done that.....

AdrenalifeRX7, not necessarily true. As wheel bearings start to go, they can make noise depending on where the weight is shifted. My shadow started out in right-hand turns only, and the noise wasn't very loud... sorta like a 'what exactly is that? oh well, it's not that bad, I'll check it later'... then progressed to louder, then to the point where you could hear it going straight but it dissapeared in left-turns.. then all the time and drowning out my radio... then driving me crazy on the 2-hour drive to montreal, and finally, in my mechanic's hands as he said

"Jonathan, this is your rotor assembly. Your tire attaches here... your car attaches here..." *smacks rotor assembly on a rock, both pieces seperate "and THIS IS WHY I TOLD YOU NOT TO TAKE LONG TRIPS WITH IT!.... Montreal was a BAD idea... see me earlier next time"
