GC coilover users....Need help!!

I just finished installing my front coil over kit to find i cannot lower my car. All modifications were done according to the papers. The spring and that part you spin to lower the car hits the rim/tire. Were you guys able to lower it all the way down? I can only have it set on the top 3/4. My rims are 40mm offset 16x7 with 205/45/16 tires. What rims/tires are you guys running?

Any help is greatly apprecated!!

I had the same prob with my GC coil setup and the problem is your rims they are the wrong offset. Regaurdless what people tell you they are the wrong off-set. Dont go through all the hassels I did just to find out it is the wrong off-set. 2 ways to fix... get new rims or install a .25inch spacer then install longer studs, dont kid yourself please use the longer studs...again Im talking from experience.

J Oliver, What offset were your rims? I've thought about using the spacers aswell...Where did you get your spacers and studs?
This really pissed me off....All this ******* work and money spent to have my car higher than before!

Mine too are 40mm offset, Dont be mad... cause it is a simple fix. Any wheel place will have the spacers but I got my studs from a Chevy dealership parts dept. Just take 1 of your old studs out and tell them you want ones .25 inch longer or so.

Same deal Jimmy... 16x7 40mm offset wheels.. with the coil overs they way they were I could only drop the car to the point where the perch was right at the top of the tire...

I run a spacer up front and now it will go down as far as I'd like..

This is about as low as I've set it.. rubbed the inner fender on sharp turns so I brought it back up a tad.

oh, BTW, I don't run teh spacer when I run AutoX and don't have any issues with my 13x8 4" backspace wheels...

I think that's where they tried to design to anyway..

I kinda like that stance - very aggressive looking.

rx7gslse,

Currently my car is sitting exactly like yours front and back. So I really shouldn't be complaining but I thought it could go lower without a spacer. I still have to cut the rear "dead coils" to match the front. Your car looks good the way it is. I'm just obessed with scraping my bumper! LOL

I was able to use the factory rims and adjust it down all the way. But then I couldn't turn my steering so that was pointless.

I haven't driven the car yet, with the new shocks and coils. The drilled rotors are also in. Also everthing under there got sandblasted..... it's almost a shame to put the rims back on! LOL I'll get some pictures.

I'm gonna get a spacer made but it'll be during winter cuz I only drove the car for like 3 weeks this whole summer.
