My guess would be the fuel pump either has a short, or isn't pumping a high enough volume of fuel.

what do you mean by "little holes in the gas tank", are you loosing gas?, when you changed out the filter 15 times, did you notice and brownish residue in the filter, may have to break one open to really check for the stuff. also may check the pump connector under the drivers side rear storage bin (need to remove bin to see connector), also your fuel pump relay switch may be going bad or is just loose ( under dash above steering colum), i couldnt find mine so i just ran a seperate hot wire to the fuel pump connector), anyways, if u have junk in your filter, then there junk in the carb fuel line screens, and you will have to replace the fuel tank to cure this, rust wont stop growing in tank,,,,,let us know what u find,,,goood luck,,,

Donna,

If it's not any of the above, check the fuel supply lines for cracks. I had one so bad it actually started to put a puddle on the ground before I caught it. The cracks let it suck air and helped the car run line crap.

I jb welded the cracks i had in the fuel lines of my tank when I cleaned it out but no Iam not actully leaking any gas. And yes I do keep getting that nasty brown gas in the filters. Ive got 2 extra filters on the gas lines and they seem to stay clean. Ill let yall know later how it goes with the electical stuff.

I assume you have the stock location fuel pump. If so check that the line that is after the fuel pump is not colasped. Had this happen to me when I was changing the gas filter. Also if your going thru that many filters and they its probably the tank itself. How many filters you running?

That's most likely your problem right there! The stock fuel pump is weak enough as it is and the added restriction of two extra filters will really mess up your fuel delivery. Get rid of them!

FWIW, the carb actually has two little screen filters in the fuel inlet which should prevent any debris from getting in. There's no need to run additional fuel filters.

As far as the gas tank goes it sounds like there is still some crud in there. Don't know if it works but J C Whitney has a gas tank sealer for using on the inside of the tanks supposed to take care of rust.

sad, no one ever considers the strainer inside the tank.

If you are getting brown colored filters when your changing them, you likely have rust in the tank itself. I converted to a GSL-SE piping that goes into the tank because the hose diameter is larger and less likely to get restricted. Also removed the strainer too. The fuel filter will do all the filtering before it reaches the pump. IT goes to my holley pump and through larger then stock fuel lines to the carb. They are larger then needed, but the chances of restrictions are slim to none.

Rev head your probably right i dont need the extra filters but it has ben doing this long before I put those in and will still run great for 5 or sometimes 15 or 20 mi before it starts this and I can let it sit and iddle in the shop all day. Oh and I replaced the pump connector didnt help and the fuel line after the pump is fine and I also couldnt find the relay switch. As for the bigger line I will try that when I replace my tank does anyone know a better price than $80 for a clean tank and shiping to east TX?

So it does this after you've been driving awhile? It could be vapour lock. Make sure the fuel tank vent line isn't blocked.
