fun winter car
hey guys, I'm torn up between my friend old *** 91 civic DX (something like that ) that he could be selling me for like 500 bucks or an FB. I just cant deceide wich one is best. Fun to price factor is the key
RX-7
+ its an RX, nuff said
+ better stock suspension
RWD (cooler)
- heavier (mainly SE)
- probably more expensive
- hard to find expensive parts
Civic
+ insane reliability
+ cheapest parts on the planet
+ can ram trees witouth feeling bad
+ FWD (better in snow)
+ crazy gaz mileage (still a daily driver)
+ plenty of engine swap
- its a ******* civic
so overall the civic is winning... but I cant bring myself driving (ok, drifting) a civic around.
opinion?

if its just a winter car why would you want to risk hurting a rx7. if its and old beat up civic, it might be fun to "drift" right into a snow pile. ive always wanted to. and a carb'd fb might not be the most fun thing to drive it that extreme cold.

Plus, with rally tires they are hella fun

Sevens aren't hard to drive in the winter. I've had my through two winters, Just drive smart. Practice in an emtpy parkinglot or something to get a feel for a rear wheel drive car in the snow.
(I actually prefer RW drive for snow now)

its not a FWD vs RWD thing
you have between a super cheap reliable better that get 65 MPG or an cool old rally car that get not so good mileage, more costly and probably carb powered... arg...
but the civic would be a good bike trailor hehe

the 7 is higher on the fun scale while the civic (it sounds funny to say this in the same sentance) wins hand downs on the bucks side...
Their is still plenty of people rallying their FB in the SCCA...

We've basically got two different types of cars. Both are focused towards a different group of people.
One is a sports care, the other, an economy driver. What do you want? Fun or the same lame crap you see all over the roard. Sure, Civics are decent cars, but they are lame and boring. People aren't going to stop you and ask you about your car, which has happened to me more often than I thought it would. There is a huge and friendly following for the RX-7. If you have any problems, you're always welcomed here. As far as I've seen with Civics, at least in this area, it's over run with 16-18 year olds who think they're invisible and know all there is to know about cars. And they could honestly care less about you or your car.
So let's kinda look down your list...
Yes, It's an RX car...definitely unique.
Stock suspension is alright, could have been better, but these cars are fairly old. But there are aftermarket kits you can buy to make it much better and they aren't too expensive.
My GSL weighs about 2400 lbs, to me....that is a pretty tiny car.
Parts can be hard, but there are plenty of people on the forums willing to help and of course there are ALWAYs parts on ebay and the forums themselves. You just have to look harder. Also, junkyards do wonders.
