fun winter car
hey guys, I'm torn up between my friend old ass 91 civic DX (something like that :D ) that he could be selling me for like 500 bucks or an FB. I just cant deceide wich one is best. Fun to price factor is the key
RX-7 + its an RX, nuff said ;) + better stock suspension RWD (cooler) - heavier (mainly SE) - probably more expensive - hard to find expensive parts Civic + insane reliability + cheapest parts on the planet + can ram trees witouth feeling bad + FWD (better in snow) + crazy gaz mileage (still a daily driver) + plenty of engine swap - its a fucking civic so overall the civic is winning... but I cant bring myself driving (ok, drifting) a civic around. opinion? |
if its just a winter car why would you want to risk hurting a rx7. if its and old beat up civic, it might be fun to "drift" right into a snow pile. ive always wanted to. and a carb'd fb might not be the most fun thing to drive it that extreme cold.
|
RX7s arent supposed to be driven in the winter
get a fucken civic |
keep in mind that the factor " I dont want to hurt an RX-7 " isnt really high for me. Its still a bunch of steel plates welded together for me.
|
I can't believe that you posted that on the RX7 forum!!
Do you really thing we'll tell you to drive a Honda!?!?! |
get a honda, dont kill a good mazda....
|
yeah, i think thats what most people will tell you on the RX7 forum
|
well... the honda forum has his civic trolls and we have our pro-rotary trolls too
|
What kind of condition is the FB in? If its in shit condition, then it wont really matter if it gets trashed...But of course if you are talking about a Good condition one...go for the Civic.

get both, and drive the civic while you work on the FB because I'm not gonna lie, those civics are reliable and the gas mileage doesn't hurt now days either.

Plus, with rally tires they are hella fun :D |
don't hurt the 7 man :(
|
engineers never hurt machinery, they mutate them :)
ps. rally cars are cool |
Sevens aren't hard to drive in the winter. I've had my through two winters, Just drive smart. Practice in an emtpy parkinglot or something to get a feel for a rear wheel drive car in the snow.
(I actually prefer RW drive for snow now) |
its not a FWD vs RWD thing
you have between a super cheap reliable better that get 65 MPG or an cool old rally car that get not so good mileage, more costly and probably carb powered... arg... but the civic would be a good bike trailor hehe |
Sounds like you already know what you should get then.
|
get the civic.

We've basically got two different types of cars. Both are focused towards a different group of people.
One is a sports care, the other, an economy driver. What do you want? Fun or the same lame crap you see all over the roard. Sure, Civics are decent cars, but they are lame and boring. People aren't going to stop you and ask you about your car, which has happened to me more often than I thought it would. There is a huge and friendly following for the RX-7. If you have any problems, you're always welcomed here. As far as I've seen with Civics, at least in this area, it's over run with 16-18 year olds who think they're invisible and know all there is to know about cars. And they could honestly care less about you or your car. So let's kinda look down your list... Yes, It's an RX car...definitely unique. Stock suspension is alright, could have been better, but these cars are fairly old. But there are aftermarket kits you can buy to make it much better and they aren't too expensive. My GSL weighs about 2400 lbs, to me....that is a pretty tiny car. Parts can be hard, but there are plenty of people on the forums willing to help and of course there are ALWAYs parts on ebay and the forums themselves. You just have to look harder. Also, junkyards do wonders. |
i had a chevy sprint that was a great winter car!!!
