i dunno what's up with this site.... i'll reply my post as it should have been. hahahaha

ok, i have searched under fuel and read some good threads, but still need help. here's what the deal is....
2 weeks ago my car was doing this crap where i would be driving and it would sputter then stall. everyone said it was my trailing ignitor because my tach was also acting weird. well, i couldnt find anyone locally with my ignitor so until i got one i just kept forkin with it to see if that was really it. i would take it out on test drives and it would be fine then all of a sudden sputter and stall again. i could wait a few minutes and it would start up and go again. so about 4 days ago it wouldnt start at all, no gas was getting to the carb. i poured some gas directly in the carb from over top and it would fire right up no prob and die when it burnt that mess up. i assumed it was a fuel pump problem, or maybe a clog. i replaced the fuel pump and pulled the gas tank off and checked all the lines going to the fuel pump. now, gas is getting to the fuel pump and is going through atleast a good bit of the line after it, but nothing is getting to the carb AT ALL. how can i see if it's a clogged line. OR could this be something else??? i know gas isnt getting tothe carb cause usually you can look down in it and see the jets spray a little bit, they are now saying "nope". i am so sad right now. help please

if its going past the fuel filter then and not to the carb, you need to get the lines replaced.

no worries. its cheap, you could probably do it yourself.

Have you actually checked to see if the pump works? I have a hard time believing the lines would fail like that all of a sudden.

On some models a bad ignitor also prevents the fuel pump from working. This would make sense judging by the symptoms you described. Might be worth looking at.

No, the accelerator pump sits on the drivers side of the carb, its a little silver looking cover thats like 1x1. Does it look damp in that area, if it is then you need an accerlator pump diapram. They cost like 16 bucks from MazdaTrix.

also take the inlet line off of the carb and run it to a bowl or bucket and turn the fuel pump on if you get fuel chek the float glass on the front and rear of the carb (should be halfway up on the glass) if not take the metal inlet tubes off and check your screens.

peace

quick question, how would you check the fuel pump operation? crank the engine? run power straight to the pump?

Somebody has previously disabled the fuel kill relay...ask V8kilr, that's how he picks up "dead" RX-7s on the cheap! D'oh!

Why did I say that? I hate myself sometimes....

The '84 and '85's are the ones with the kill relay that needs the engine physically turning by any means to complete the circuit to power up the fuel pump....
