Fuel pressure?

Hello,

I just got a 79 RX-7 with 48 org miles on it from my uncle Pat who just died of cancer. Very kool guy!!! It's been sitting for 10 years 90% indoors. Last time it was started was 3 years ago. When I got it I primed the oil pump etc. before I started it.

Put some gas down the carb and it fired right up. Then quit. I checked for gas to the carb none, Then I put the car on a lift and checked the fuel pump it was working. when I discounted all the line including up to the carb and blew them out. They were all clear when I hooked every thing up I got no gas to the carb. I then replaced the fuel pump and the same thing. When I remove the fuel line the gas comes out when I hook it back up I get Nothing coming out of the fuel line s up top.

Does the system need to be perged

Many thanks
Sean

More than likely the carb needs gone through and cleaned. In my sig line is a link to the online FSMs, carb manual, etc. Old gas turn to varnish and gums everything up.

Agreed. The needle and seats are stuck. Take the bolts off and push them down with something soft like the rolled paper stick of a q-tip or lolipop.

Sounds like the carb. Once you get that fixed be prepared to find other things wrong, since it has been sitting for ten years. Uusually the brake calipers need to be replaced, brake fluid flush, radiator flush and whatever else you may run in to.

After sitting for that long, there could be quite a bit of varnish/carbon in the apex seals inside the motor. Seafoam is an excellent product for clearing that up, just add one full can to about a quarter tank of gas and go for a drive. Keeps things squeeky clean and moving freely like they're supposed to.

Good luck with your new found love/obsession and welcom aboard.
