Fuel cell install write-up?

Just looking for what the title says, my fuel tank has a hole in it and it's rusted in place, i have to cut the straps out. Figure i might as well stick a fuel cell on it, i don't know **** about them, so sending me in the direction for me to read about them would be great.

There was some talk about this a little while ago when I inquired about it. Basically you will need to cut out your spare tire bucket and make it as a flat panel. That will give you space to mount it with the metal fuel cell straps. Look around this thread. Has some good picture shots too.

Is it against laws/regulations to just mount it in the hatch?

You dont mount it in the hatch. You mount it as the picture shows except you would have a flat piece of metal over the hole.

But if the only reason your planning a fuel cell is due to the rust, its not really worth it. Just get your tank repaired, or find a new one. Its still quite a bit of work involved and money.

The last fuel cell I bought was in excess of $600. Expect to spend that or a little less for a good metal fuel cell with a bladder. I wouldn't buy one of those cheap *** summit plastic ones though. I'd rather not have it crack in case of an accident.

Yeah, i was looking at a cheap *** one. I don't know, just trying to find a quick and easy repair, i've tried getting the old one out, i think the only way is going to be to cut it out. Fuel cell doesn't seem to be the alternative. :P

I'll figure it out when Spring rolls around, i'm planning dropping blasphemy under the hood at that time as well.

I'm actually putting a fuel cell in my car. I haven't quite decided what company I'm going to buy one from yet, but its going to be between a Jegs 15 gallon aluminum cell or a Jazz plastic one, both are under $300. It ends up being easier for me to use a fuel cell as I have a custom fuel system using 3/8 fuel lines for both supply and return and I will have a dual exhaust similar to the 2nd gen exhaust, so I need the space on both sides of the cell. The stock tank only has 5/16 supply line and return line so thats just not going to cut it with a 600 cfm carb on a streetport engine, at least just not for my standards. I'd rather overengineer it.

That 5/16 line will supply the carb more than enough fuel.

The fuel cell I bought was an ATL.
