the front left strut on my 83 makes a clanking noise when im driveing down the road it only used to do it when i hit a bump, but now its all the time, if i have to replace the strut i will but i dont want to make things uneven

 

I would jack it up and check the suspension first to make sure that's what is wrong with it.there could be a number of things wrong with it to make that kind of noise

 

Yep could be a ball joint issue, LCA issue, tierod issue, or even brakes.

Or just something is loose.
