front end Q

i found out on my 7 the front struts are loose but i cant tighten them as the bolts are to far down and when i turn the bolt the whole thing moves, is it something more serious than them being loose and how would i tighten them up or are my sruts bad? (struts shouldnt be bad as the car has only 30k miles on it and was stored in a climate controlled shop most of the time). i have tried to search for info but nothing seems similar to my prob.

can't say I've ever come across anything like you have described...okay shock to strut tower which is loose?...I don't understand how the bolts can be too far down...but try bracing the strut so that its held in place when you tighten the bolts...

If you are talking about the 4 top bolts in the engine bay, yes that can happen. They are pressed in studs. You will need to take the strut out and replace the top piece that holds the 4 studs. I found that out the hard way using an impact one day.

I think he's talking about the nut on the top of the strut rod.

Hit it with an impact wrench, that will tighten it up.
