Not to sound rude, but why does it have that opening? It can't serve an actual purpose? The bumper lets in loads of air without that piece....
I've seen it on old school race cars before...
It looks fine to me but it really does look like a cassette tape,
BTW a forum member was making those about 2 years ago...

I suspect that the extra height of the opening on that end was designed to funnel a larger amount of air into a cai. For some reason, I'm thinking this air dam was availible through an Aussie kit producer. I've looked through some old USsupplier catalogues I have and did not find it.

It also helps with airflow. The wedge-shaped nose tends to get a lot of lift at higher speeds; allowing some air to flow around the car rather than under it helps.
