Flywheel stuck!!!

All day yesterday and today i was trying to get the flywheel off. i got a puller but the blots always stripped. i tryed hammering around it, heating it up and just pulling on it with my hands. i dont think there is something else holding it other the the 52mm bolt i took off. does anyone have a solutions to this?

Grab a rubber mallet and hit it as hard as you can until it comes off.

One good baseball swing should get it.

No there isn't anything else holding the flywheel on. I used a rubber mallet hit the gear ring hard but dont damage them.

have someone pry with a screwdriver on one side while you hit the other side with the mallet. should come off with a couple of good swings.

Talking

Get a big dead blow or a 5 lb brass hammer and put a picture of Saddam on the flywheel and go to town.

Whatever method you use, leave the nut spun onto the end of the e-shaft by a few threads. This is a safety precaution to prevent the flywheel from springing off the end of the shaft and hitting someone when it finally lets go. The prying while hammering method works for me.

Pry on one side with a mechanics pry bar/crow bar, hit the face 180* across from the bar. I adapted/reworked a 2 bolt puller and have no trouble getting them off anymore.

Also... When swinging the hammer... make sure that you let out a huge yell... like you see on WWF ...

Trust me... this makes a difference....

Dude- they are a bitch to get off... just keep beating it... Either a picture of Osama or an Ex-girlfriend works too... yelling names like...*****...bitch...skank... all these help the process.... The flywheel might not go anywhere...but it helps get out all the pent up anger that you have for your ex-girlfriend and...honestly...Osama!

Best of luck- Nothing else holding it on... just years of I dont know what holding it on!

Step 1----> Get a BFH
Step 2---->Swing BFH,and hit outer edge of flywheel(with mouth open)near the ring gear.
Step 3---->Grab a beer(or beverage of choice),and revel in your success.

I was adding a little levity to your problem. Most mechanics a quite familiar with the term BFH. The flywheel removal issue comes up at least once a month. In the following link is a pic of my modified puller, 'works a treat', as our Aussie friends say.

Maybe you need to get your comp fixed, my search button works fine, and you're welcome.

I'm with ya on this one. My flywheel wouldn't budge and I did all the tricks listed here and more. What finally worked was I put the puller on as tight as I thought safe and then I heated the flywheel up a bit and soaked it with PB blaster. Then I left it for a day. When i came back I smacked it with a BFH and it was free.
