flywheel for an Auto engine
Getting ready to put an 84 auto engine into my wifes 83 Stick.
Which Flywheel do you recommed from which vendor. Engine will be somewhat stock and may get a SP in the future.

Use a stock one. It will be able to handle any power upgrades you do. They used basically the same auto tranny until 91. Just make sure the counterweights match. They are different for years and engines.

Matthew,
I take it you are going to use the M/T and are not going to be running an automatic.
In that case you have choices. Use the A/T counterweight that you already have and get a lightened steel flywheel. I have never used anything besides Racing Beat which is made by Midway. Same flywheel that Mazdatrix sells. Or you can just use the stock flywheel from the engine that was in your wifes 83.
Don't forget to install the pilot bearing and seal into the donor engine. I would also replace the rear main engine seal.

Personally I would put a WTB thread for a used lightened steel one. The flywheels in the lightened steel are all the same for 72-88 non-turbo applications. You can get the hardware bolts from racing beat.
It will also make a huge difference in the feel of acceleration on the 12a engine.

Price without the Counterweight needed is only 280, That is not to bad add 34 for the Hardware.
Scrap price is almost 14 per 100 around here All I need to do is crush two cars to pay for it. I have one preped and one more that just needs the engine pulled.

I got a used steel flywheel about a year back for 80 shipped. Took it to a local place and had them surface it and have been great ever since. If I ever replace it, it will be to an aluminum one.
