Flooding

Just yesterday, my carb seems to be flooding the engine when I shut it off. The last time this happened, the idle was high because the idle mix screw had backed out, but it seems to be fine this time. Does anyone have an idea? And what's the factory setting on the mixture screw? (how many turns out from all the way in)

Upon furtheer inspection, the secondaries fill up with a ton of gas after I shut the engine off.....garbage on the float needles? stuck floats?

Fuel filter is less than a month old, so it's not that.

The starting point for the mixture screw is 3.5 turns out. So turn it all the way in and then back it out 3.5 turns. I believe you then turn the mixture back in until the engine almost dies and then adjust the idle backup to 750ish. I had a flooding problem too. I cleaned the carb and engine really well and replaced the plugs no problem now for months. I sprayed the hell out of it with carb cleaner while running the engine at 3000rpms and I think I also used Sea Foam in the gas aswell as directly in the carb. But I think adjusting the mixture and replacing the plugs fixed most of the problems.

Adjusted the screw, and replaced the screw with one outta my spare carb, still same problem. Started the car, and let it run for a few minutes. Shut it off, and watched gas drip into the primaries, and fill the secondaries. Looks like the floats are screwed up from the previous rebuild, or the needles aren't sealing right.
Fun fun fun to pull that damn air horn off.
