Flat Black?
My car is pretty ugly.
It's got a lot of surface rust and the silver paint is pretty much toast. Now I don't have any money for a decent paintjob so I was thinking of grinding down the surface rust and getting rid it and then doing a ghetto rattlecan paintjob in flat black.
What do you think? Is it worse to have a rusty looking car or a car with an obvious rattle-can job?
Let's hear it:

I actually did the Flat Black on the upper half of my FB with "Ghetto style rattle cans" because of the faded paint as well. I have recieved many compliments from the local car hangout people about the color combination. I also get asked what kind of flat black paint I used and when I specify "rattle cans" they get surprised how good it can out.
Her's a tip......
Put the cans in HOT water before spraying them and the paint will flow much better.

If you want to do it and you think it will look better than what you have now do it. My fb has been three different shades of primer and the original white for a few years now, and I can afford a paint job. I'd just rather spend the money to go fast, or faster, and stop and turn, etc, etc, before I paint.

im having the same issue. Im a high school student and cant afford insurence and a piant job. and there are some rusty areas on my car but i dont want to fix it because i dont want a multy color car so i have been contiplating this idea so i can fix these areas and still have it the car one color until i can afford a actual good paint job. the other idea i had was to prep it all myself adn taking it to the local school that teachs car painters to become painters and buying paint and letting them do it and hopefully the guy that does it will actually do a half decent job.

Here's a flat black job on a friend of mine's 7 here in Atlanta. Makes a great sleeper. For good measure Yayo regularly kicks on the doors and fenders to give it that broken in look.

If you primer dont rattle can and accually prep the surface. Or you could end up with an unsmooth surface to later apply paint to, or the paint could hold moistuer and cause rust.
