first gen clutches

Was just wondering how much torque/hp the stock clutch will take?

Have tried a search but have not found anything yet!

Any help greatly appreciated!

Cheers.

I will be stressin' out my stock clutch with my turbo that will be going in soon. Then I'll see for myself what it'll hold. I'm suspecting that It cant take it and I'll have to drop another 2 or 3 big ones on a better clutch.

To answer your question, I would guess that maybe 180 hp would be its limit. But it is just a guess. Some say that it is good to have your clutch as the weakest part of the drivetrain. Cause if it cant take the pressure, it'll just slip a little. If it is a REALLY strong clutch, then it wont slip at all, but you will end up with a broken u joint, screwwed up differential, broken tranny gear, etc. Just food for thought.

i dunno about 180hp

recommendation:
1.Get a centerforce kit, my buddy FBII had one onhis turbo 12a car and it always seemed to work well.
2. Racing beat street/strip clutch

I didn't like the centerforce. I have an ACT now and love it. Excellent pedal feel, slippery enough for daily driving, but grabs hard when I need it to. BTW I also have a large streetport and a lightened flywheel, and have no problems in traffic.

Are you looking for a solid bonded clutch, easier to drive, load on trailer etc, or hard core puck clutch, more grip but unable to be slipped at all. For race only go puck, for any street use a bonded will be enough for 200 hp.

The duel friction one (stage three or some BS.)

It was about 320$

Pedal pressure is light but positive(you can actually tell it's connected to something), fairly broad biting point (maybe about two inches) I also have a RB flywheel.

Grabs hard as hell, never even a hint of slip. My car probably makes 175whp. The clutch could take WAY WAY more.

I've always hated worrieing about clutches. Sence I bought this one, I have yet to feel anything but 100% confident that it will never slip or leave me stranded.

I'm sold. I'll put one in every car I ever have.
