IA Fine Tuning

So I have gotten a new Rhyno Pac clutch kit installed, replaced that Flex exhaust pipe, with custom bent exhaust pipe 2", no cat, 12" cherry bomb muffler mid pipe with a 6" round high flow muffler with a 1" Silencer, I replaced the spark plugs with NGK's and changed out the grease in the rear end and transmission, replaced the tires, changed the oil and replaced the coolant, and replaced the air filter also. I am still getting a back fire when I let off the accelerator and when I am pedal to the floor running it hard I get a flutter in the engine like its running out of fuel. I let off the pedal a little bit and everything is running hard again. I can not figure out what is going on here, I thought it might be an exhaust leak for the back fire problem and I did find one at the forward joint in the exhaust. Replaced that gasket and still I get a back fire. Does my timing need tuned or does my carb need rebuilt and tuned or what...

Thanks for the help in advance everyone.

no I haven't yet but its got a full tank so that will take a bit before I run it down on fuel to clean the tank and lines... you think there might be a restriction in the line? I could pull out the fuel pressure gauge and toss it on there and see what its running at full load...

1st gen gas tanks have a filter sock at the inlet tube for the pump. Over time they clog solid and make your life miserable. I ran a wire attacked to an electric drill through mine, which worked, but now I'm constantly checking my fuel filter. Also, its my experience that the 1st gen fuel pump is sub-awesome when it's old.

Id look into your exhaust Setup. 2" with no cat and that thing is gonna pop. Put a fart can that takes the exhaust to 1" and your motor will not be happy. These motors love free flow. Lose the silencer atleast and see if that helps. Should have gone 2.25 or 2.5 on the piping and a quality muffler. Those $30 ebay mufflers last maybe 1 month on a rotary.

I had similar fuel delivery issue.
Thought I could clean tank 1 filter at a time.
5 filters later in less than 2500 miles problem no better.
Removed tank, which does have a drain plug.
Amazed at amount of crud in tank.
Even more amazed at crud in pick up line, was surprised it could even run at all.
Cleaned the hell out of everything.
Got pickup line sock by going to parts store and picking thru inventory til I found one that fit tube.
Replaced all relevant fuel lines as well as gauge sending unit.
Put that baby back together, wore out shoes kicking myself for not doing it all first thing.
Runs great! Stock pump is fine for stock, even stripped Nikki.
Stock pump is inadequate for Sterling Nikki at full throttle.

Exhaust is a whole 'nother story.
Wanna hear it?

Yeah. Mine has a drainj plug in the tank. So it won't be too bad. I will just run the gas down in it and then do it. This problem doesn't effect the daily driving of it. Just full throttle 100% engine load. Mostly at 7500RPM

Thanks for the help. I am a mechanic at an indipendant shop so I have access to a pipe bender and stock piping. Not too much trouble for me to just make a new pipe. I was going to go 3" but I wasn't sure it would clear the upover at the rear between the rear axle and flooring plate.
