FINALLY put new page up

Finally put the page up detailing swapping an SA transmission into the FB.

http://www.geocities.com/izzmus/trans/trans.html

About 1.5 megs of pictures and HTML, so Geocities will freak if more than four people view the page per hour, but the pictures are pretty good.

I have about 160 more pictures of the swap, but that'd just be rediculous.

Hey Peejay, want some better hosting for this? I'm willing to host stuff like this free on my server to make it more easily accessible to the public.

Lemme know and I'll give ya more info.

Sounds interesting. I am all ears.

I have lots more stuff that I've never put to webpage because of restrictive size/bandwidth limits.

Really nice site, but what exactly made you do this? What are the advantages?

Paint? Who has time to paint? The car rolled into a friend's garage at about 2pm and rolled back out around 6 or 7pm. Painting would require spending a few hours cleaning and prepping, a few more hours painting, letting it dry overnight... and it'd also require me giving a crap.

Why? Because i could. I frankly think the gears in the '83-up trannies are **** because they are fine pitch. Plus the bearings were LOUD, and it was quite difficult to shift into 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The SA trans, though having similar miles, and about 100 1/4mi passes and lots of abuse, was(is) still quiet and shifts like a hot knife through butter. And the clutch was slipping pretty badly anyway. And the '80 trans has a more useable 5th gear, the engine is right in the meat of the torque curve on the highway, no more downshifting to maintain at least 3500. And 1-3 are marginally lower as well. Did I mention that it didn't sound like it had 40 grit gear lube?
