FB suspension

I've been searching this forum for a while now and have finally joined up. I've learned a little bit but still have plenty to go, especially relating to suspension components. One thing I've noticed is that the respeed front end is highly desirable but no longer available unless someone decides they don't want theirs anymore. The second is that an FC subframe can be swapped over. My question being, which option provides the best results along with aftermarket support?

If you're willing to spend the money, nothing is wrong with keeping fb subframe and upgrading to T3 coilovers all around

What about the steering from the fb? From what I understand it's not rack and pinion while fc is. Is this correct?

Rack and pinion is way overrated. You loose the soul of the car with it.

Whether it's your taste or not isn't the point. I know it changes the feel, that's kinda my objective. I'm just asking about response and feel of the wheel along with aftermarket support

Short of a steering rack swap, I did basically everything else.

-STANCE coilovers
-Techno Toy Tuning Lower Control Arms
-TTT Tension Rods
-All new MOOG tie rods, pitman arm etc.
-195/50/15 F S.Drives
-205/50/15 R S.Drives
-Typical alignment, a bit of neg camber

I have not driven a rack-swapped FB before, but I can't image a 'bolt on' First Gen setup more complete than what I did.

It is amazing how the car feels, a completely new car. Feels like driving a go-kart. There aren't any bushing anymore everything is solid heim joints/rod ends.

I think the ultimate is a FC swap with FC coilovers etc.. but as a bolt-on solution going through all the suspension components is the way to go.

tommyeflight89, that sounds absolutely fantastic, I can only imagine how it drives. I'll have time to decide if I want to do FC swap or go the way you did, but I'll be posting about it. Thanks for the ideas

Wondering if can post some pics of you FB with the coil overs and arms. Planning to use 50 series tires on my 85. Thx! JOE

I would absolutely love to see some pictures of this setup as well.

I'm going to be redoing each and every bushing in the front suspension and running lowering springs and Tokico Blue cartridges with all rebuilt brake calipers and a new master cylinder. I'll report my findings back later!
