FB Rx7 price

Hello,

I’m trying to sell my Rx7 FB 1984 GSL 12A manual transmission NA left hand power windows red leather interior.

The car is a little rough I think maybe alternator is bad and rear brake calipers are seized. Car starts on first try always but needs a boost.

Any idea how much it’s worth? I’m trying to sell it locally but I’m getting a lot of low *****.

minor things a thief broke the ignition lock Last week, then today the first viewer of the car broke the ignition switch with a screwdriver while trying to start it / I was able to take out the switch with a low profile driver thanks whoever posted it here before. And I was using it find until the guy broke it. Still works but needs to be replaced now.

car still starts. I bought a generic ignition switch lock 4 positions 4 poles but can’t find how to wire it.

left power window I already fixed but right passenger window is off track.

Little rust on rear wheel wells. Rims are aftermarket stereo works cassete tape might need a rubber belt.

I wouldn't pay you more than 2,300 when I paid that much for a fully functional, no rust 12A top trim. Is that low, yes, how much someone would have to pay to fix all of those small issues, about 1 grand. How much stuff needs to be redone on that car, maybe none, or at least 3,000$ worth of work if the engine/trans has any issue. If your car was turn-key ( no pun intended), I'd say 4 grand +, but your car isn't. If I sold my car today, I wouldn't expect more than 5 for MY car that turns on every time, is drivable on a daily and has working AC and a rebuilt engine. MY rule of thumb is if it needs any engine work or is not turnkey, it's not worth more than 2 grand in my eyes, a rebuild is north of 2500 . Others may disagree but we all know how much money we spend fixing these cars.

New guy shows up and has 2 posts; his first one is, "I have a car to sell..."

He's just fishing here for buyers, gentlemen. I doubt he'll even be back to refute this,

I made a guy a 900$ offer for a non-op car with a blown engine and the dude called me mentally ill and raised his asking price from 1,800$ to 2,300$ " its an FB, highly desirable, you know nothing of rotaries" .. I was too nice to offer 500 . Like yes these are fun cars but a simple rebuild is pricy, I have spent roughly 4k$ dollars on my car and it was in okay shape when these guys are asking 2-3 k for a nonop car they are essentially saying " your gonna be 8 grand deep in the hole before you can drive this baby." God help you if its a 81 model year with all the one year only parts haha.

off topic, but kind of funny. When I was in the market for a used car before I got the rx-7, I saw a 57 t bird (the two seater one). I looked it over, and the owner said twenty-two. I thought, great $2200! I saw it advertised in the newspaper for $22,000.

I got the fully functioning, needing a paint job, rx-7 for thirty-four.

I got my fully functioning 80 RX7 SA for $7,200.00 back in 1983. Thats right, used it sold for almost what it cost new! I could have gotten the new for 84, GSL-SE but wanted the SA for all the reasons. Was big into autox back then and wanted the best cone carver I could get.

Right? That's insane. Like the M3 Beemer that went for $250K a few months ago. "BaT.. of cash" should be the name for that site.

People forget there's a lot of bored Chinese and Saudi milonares who came into money so quickly that to them pissing a hundred g's for a 10/10 example is worth it. Then again people do pay 120k for a Mercedes that loses about 40 grand in a year sooo.. I'm just wondering, he could have bought a semi mint FD for that money.. hate me all you want but id rather an FD .

Beauty and value are in the eye and pocket of the beholder. Personally I feel they are ,79-85 1st gens., art forms. Have enjoyed driving them for near 30 years and have seven of them, some running some not and an extensive parts inventory, that will keep my son and grand kids in them for years. Just wish seal kits and apex seals weren't so expensive.
