ignition switch problems???

Question ignition switch problems???

car starts fine. but when i turn the key to START, the car fires...i release the key and it goes back to ON it sometimes dies?
i lose all power? if i wiggle the key a little i get power. other times the car starts with no trouble?
any suggestions without getting a new ignition?

so what do you think?
some kind of silicone or lithium grease to lubricate it?
any ideas?

sounds like the contacts in the switch are shot... in less the switch wires are pinched or the connecting plugs are loose not making a good contact...

contacts? can they be taken apart to be cleaned like a window switch contacts?? ive taken it out but never really inspected it.
im gonna have to investigate further.....

damaged key cylinder

yes..its common in highlly used lock cylinders there is a small ball bearing inside that holds the key from comming back all the way into the acc side of the switch or completlly off.the ball bearing wears and starts to slip..
from age. wear they do that...
