I always see the letters FB what does in mean???

 

just leters. what does the letters on your licence plate mean? they are there for code

 

fb=1st gen
fc=2nd gen
fd=3rd gen

First gens have fb in the VIN and it says fb on the bottom of the gauge cluster. the one i have anyway. Someone correct if my info is wrong im in a rush. bye

Actually I'm confused about the chassis code, I've always read that the first gen is an FB33, yet the 2nd and 3rd gens are FC3S and FD3S, yet the vins of both read as FC33 and FD33. Where does the 3S come from? What does it mean?

 

A crack smoker added the S after the 3.

 

Well, the VIN isn't necessarily the chassis code.

FWIW, RX-8s are FEs. VINs are all "JM1FE..." though I don't know what the actual chassis code is.
